Naziru Mikail Abubakar

Naziru Mikail Abubakar is the Executive Director/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Trust newspapers. He has previously worked at the BBC World Service for 10 years in Nigeria and the UK, covering global and regional news for different BBC outlets before becoming its Nigeria Editor in 2016, leading the organization’s teams in Nigeria, Niger, Ghana and Cameroon. The Kano-born journalist was a recipient of the 2018 World Journalist Fellowship at New York University where he earned an MA in digital media and innovation. While studying in the US, he developed a working document on Augmented Reality news app for Voice of America Digital team. He also worked with American news site, Axios, to help segment their audience and develop some new products. Before joining NYU, he had obtained an MA in New Media at the University of Leicester and a BA in Mass Communication at Bayero University, Kano.
