REPORT ON THE ADVOCACY VISIT TO THE OFFICE OF THE EFCC

Center For Media, Policy and Accountability CMPA team led by its Executive Director Dr. Suleiman A. Suleiman paid an Advocacy visit to Head Office The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) where they were received by the Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede ably represented by his Chief of Staff Mr. Michael O. Nzekwe to discuss areas of Partnership and Collaboration to strenghten the collective fight against Corruption in Nigeria.

Dr. Suleiman in his remarks described the visit as homecoming having been there last year under the previous leadership, of Abdulrasheed Bawa. “The Center works  to strengthen social, economic and democratic governance in Nigeria by providing high-quality research, media development, social advocacy, capacity building and public engagement services to our partners and clients in the public, Private and non profit sectors”. he said. 

With support from MacAthur foundation, the centre recently held a three day training workshop on Nigerian Anti-corruption Performance Public Reporting (NAPPR). Each day of the training was for members of the Anti-corruption Agencies, Civil Society Organizations and the Media respectively thus summing up the tripod of sectors actively involved in the fight against corruption and reporting it. Staff members of the commission were also a part of this training workshop. The centre has also worked with UNODC, MacAthur foundation,

Speaking Further, Dr Suleiman proposed a partnership for capacity building for Staff members of the Economic and financial crime commission in three core areas.

Representative of the Chairman, Mr Michael O. Nzekwe, started by expressing apologies of the chairman who is unavoidably absent due to work exigencies. he thanked the centre for finding the commission worthy of another visit, he said the Chairman is one who believes in capacity building as he is also a trainer himself and will support any effort to not just boost the delivery capacity of the commission but also project its effort in the right direction.

Also in attendance were CE Friday Ebelo, Director, special Duties, Office of the Executive Chairman, ACE I Tony Idoko, Special Assistant to the Chairman on Strategy and ACE I Tony Orilade, Head< public Interface Unit, EFCC.

Executive Director Center For Media, Policy and Accountability was decorated by the EFCC Chairman with the Commissions Crest as “Anti-Corruption Ambassador”.
